QC Sports Report's Boys' Athletes of the Week
Here are the Queen City Sports Report’s Boys’ Athletes of the Week. These athletes were nominated by coaches:

Ethan Blanton, Metrolina Christian Soccer, sophomore: Blanton scored three goals and one assist in a 4-2 win Sept. 1 over Rocky River. Blanton also scored both goals last Thursday in a 2-0 victory over Queens Grant Charter.
Blanton has six goals and three assists this season for a Metrolina Christian team off to their best start to a season since 2008 at 3-1-1.
Colby Cornelius, Hickory Ridge Football, senior: Cornelius, a 6-4, 210-pound senior quarterback, went 9-for-16 for 198 yards passing and five touchdowns to lead Hickory Ridge to a 54-6 win last Friday over South Iredell. Cornelius also rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Cornelius is 28-for-49 for 465 yards passing and seven touchdowns, while rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown for Hickory Ridge (1-1) this season.
Kaden Craft, Lake Norman Football, junior: The 6-foot-4, 210-pound junior quarterback went 12-for-13 for 247 yards passing and four touchdowns throws in a 49-0 win last Friday at West Cabarrus.
Craft is 29 for 43 for 612 yards and seven touchdowns for Lake Norman (3-0) this season.
Rogan Crenshaw, Charlotte Catholic Soccer, senior: The Cougars’ senior forward scored two goals and had one assist in leading Charlotte Catholic to a 4-2 comeback victory on Sept. 1 at rival Providence.
With his team down 2-0, Crenshaw scored the Cougars’ first goal, then assisted on the game-tying goal, before netting the fourth score to put the game away.
Crenshaw has three goals and three assists for Charlotte Catholic (7-0) this season.
Kingston Curry, Charlotte Country Day Football, junior: Curry, a 6-foot, 163-pound receiver, had nine catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns last Friday in a 30-6 win at Greensboro’s Ben. Smith.
Curry, who also starts at defensive back, had three tackles, including two tackles for loss, in the victory.
Curry has 13 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns, while making 19 tackles, including two tackles for loss and three passes defended, for Charlotte Country Day (2-1) this season.

George Dailey, Statesville Soccer, senior: The Greyhounds’ senior midfielder scored two goals in a 3-1 victory Sept. 1 at West Charlotte.
The next day, Dailey had an assist and scored two more goals, including one from 40 yards out, in a 7-0 victory over Elkin.
Dailey, who also plays for the Statesville varsity basketball and football teams, also boasts a 4.475 grade-point average in the classroom.
Jake Robbins, Marvin Ridge Football, senior: The 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries in his team’s 42-21 victory last Friday at Ardrey Kell.
Robbins has rushed for 376 yards and nine touchdowns on 38 carries for Marvin Ridge (3-0) this season.

Will Hobbs, Charlotte Latin Soccer, junior: The Hawks’ midfielder scored both goals in a 2-1 victory Sept. 1 over Charlotte Country Day. It was the Hawks’ first victory over Charlotte Country Day in five years.
Charlotte Latin also won 1-0 over Forestview last Thursday.
Hobbs has seven goals and seven assists for Charlotte Latin (8-1) this season.
Sujwol Khanal, Cox Mill Soccer, junior: Khanal scored the game-winning goal on a header with 5.4 seconds left in a 4-3 victory last Wednesday over Butler. Khanal also scored the game-tying goal in the same game.
Cox Mill took a 4-4-1 record into this week.

Max Davis, Burns Football, senior: The 6-foot, 205-pound senior rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries to help Burns to a 53-0 victory Friday at East Gaston.
Davis has 224 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 28 carries for Burns (1-2) this season.
