6 min read

The finals are set in several Charlotte-area girls’ volleyball conference championship matches set for Wednesday evening.

It will be the last chance for teams to improve their RPI positions before the N.C. High School Athletic Association announces the state playoff seedings and pairings Thursday.

In most cases, the teams that finished first and second in the regular season will meet for titles.

That includes Ardrey Kell and East Mecklenburg in the Southwestern 7A/8A; Butler and Independence in the Meck Power Six 7A/8A; Hickory Ridge and Cox Mill in the Greater Metro 6A/7A; North Iredell and Mooresville in the North Piedmont 6A/7A; and Marvin Ridge and Weddington in the Southern Carolina 6A/7A.

There is one surprise, in the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A, where third-seeded South Mecklenburg upset second seed Myers Park in the semifinals Tuesday.

Here is a look at Tuesday’s high school sports around the Charlotte area – plus the pairings for today’s NCHSAA girls’ team tennis playoffs.
