Tuesday roundup: Area volleyball, Soccer and more

Ava Nadeau and the Charlotte Latin girls’ volleyball team continue to surge.


The unbeaten Hawks blanked visiting Concord Academy 3-0 Tuesday for their 12th victory of the season, and Nadeau was a big reason.


She totaled 23 kills and eight digs for the Hawks, who won their sets by scores of 25-8, 25-11 and 25-19.


Nadeau is averaging nearly six kills per set this season.


Charlotte Latin is ranked seventh this week in North Carolina by Maxpreps.


The Hawks will spend the weekend in the Triangle area, playing Friday evening at Durham Academy and Saturday at Cary Academy.


Two other state-ranked area volleyball teams won Tuesday.


Davidson Day, ranked No. 22 in the state, ran its record to 6-1 by downing Cannon School 3-1.


The Patriots took the opening set 25-12, but the Cougars evened the match by winning 25-22 in the second set.  Davidson Day then won 25-22 and 25-16.


Riley Lewis led the Patriots with 17 kills, and Dara Polk had 22 assists.


The other ranked team, No. 15 North Iredell swept visiting St. Stephens 3-0.  The Warriors are 7-0 on the season.
