The South Mecklenburg boys’ soccer team has rebounded from a slow start and is making noise.

The Sabres won their fourth straight game Tuesday night, knocking off state-ranked Providence 2-1 in a nonconference match.  The Panthers entered the contest ranked eighth in North Carolina by MaxPreps.

South Mecklenburg opened the season with a tie against Weddington and then a 3-0 loss to Wilmington-area powerhouse New Hanover.  Since then, the Sabres have outscored opponents 12-5 during a four-match win streak.

Providence (6-2-1) got a goal from Porter White early in the second half, but South Mecklenburg answered with a pair of tallies.
